Grief Tending
Grief Tending in Community Kent: Spaces to welcome and tend to grief together
Grief is much more than an emotional response to loss. Grief is a measure of our depth of love, honor and praise for life. Grief is inextricably woven with our experience of being human.
We all experience grief at some point in our lives. The intense personal sorrow of losing those or that which we loved and cherished. We also hold Ancestral grief, collective grief, Planteary grief, grief for parts of ourselves that have been hurt and traumatized, and grief for the pain we have caused to others.
Grief Tending in Community is an ancient practice that allows the expression and flow of grief to be acknowledged, witnessed and honored. By tending our grief, giving pain and sorrow a place and space to be seen, our loss can be integrated with love, acceptance and praise creating a balance and equilibrium within the individual, family, community and environment.
Grief and love are the opposite wings of the same bird.
Without the grief there would be no love;no honoring of the beauty of life.
Without the space to grieve, without gently supporting our flow and expression of grief our own passion, joy and reverence and appreciation for life often becomes stuck, restrained and diminished.
Grief tending in community is a transformative journey that gently opens a gateway to our sorrow and pain. When we meet our grief and offer it expression and voice, our hearts open and we begin a journey of self healing.
As co founder of Grief Tending Community Kent it is my honor to be jointly hosting Grief Tending Practices and Spaces.
